| Charlie
West Pottery & Lamps is proud to offer quality handmade lamps.
Each lamp begins as a piece of clay. Charlie then hand turns each
piece on the wheel. Once the piece has been fired, glazed and refired
in the kiln, it is then ready to be made into a beautiful, one of a kind
lamp. Sizes and shapes will vary on each piece since they are hand
made. If a pair of lamps are needed, they should be ordered as a
pair for them to match. All styles are available in all glazes unless
noted. Kiln atmosphere affects the outcome of the final glaze, so
the color may vary slightly from firing to firing, however, they will be
similar. |
That
is the beauty of handmade pottery, each piece is unique. The lamps
are available with or without shades. The shades offered are cream
hardback linen shades in three styles.
Although these lamps are available at finer
stores throughout the United States, they are not readily available because
Charlie still makes each and every piece himself. Charlie has a little
help from his wife Honey, who helps with office work, some glazing and
general day to day tasks. |
The
glazes used are another work of art themselves. Charlie is always
experimenting with new ideas to keep the colors exciting and unique.
Check the website from time to time to see the newest glazes and styles
available.
Charlie has been a potter since 1986 when
he got his start as an after school employee at Sims Pottery in Gillsville,
